gift from t

yesterday after coming home from a particularly grueling day at work i was greeted with a package from theresa.

this really made my day. how often do you get something in the mail that isn't a bill? on top of that, a gift when it isn't your birthday or christmas? thanks, taytor. you are the greatest.

new knits

i had ordered new needles and yarn from knitpicks to start a new baby cardigan. it was going to be my first baby project not using scraps, so i was pretty excited. i came home everyday from work expecting they would be there, like a kid on christmas morning. finally i looked up the tracking number and saw that they got shipped to wisconsin. apparently, i hadn't used knitpicks since i moved to from new zealand. but i was positive i had changed my shipping address...

after a call and some additional shipping my new needles and yarn came and i couldn't be happier about them. the yarn is stroll tonal fingering in the color thunderhead. i am making the newborn vertebrae

week 19

week 19
he/she is definitely getting bigger. this is our last week of not knowing the gender. which is exciting and sad. i like the possibility of having either. but it will be great to finally know and to envision our future with a new little girl or boy. this week she is 6 inches long and weighs 8.5 ounces.

on the needles

i was trying to kill time while waiting for my new yarn and needles to come in the mail. it turns out that you can make a lot of baby things with scrap yarn.

weather victory

every year, aaron and I have two weather bets.

  1. when will the the first snowfall fall (we have to wake up to snow on the ground for it to count) - autumn
  2. when will the yard be snowless – spring
i have never won one of these bets. never. i continue to be a good a sport and play along. usually the winner gets a bottle of liquor of their choice (tequila or whiskey for aaron and gin for me). obviously the rules had to change for me to play this year. this year the winner gets to pick the pizza and beverage of his/her choice at moose’s tooth and the other person has to pick it up and pay.

aaron guessed october 22 and I guessed october 20. for the first time ever I won. we woke up on october 20 to find snow on the ground!

week 18

he/she is officially the size of a sweet potato, about 5.6 inches. apparently, the wee baby seamus is squirming, punching, and kicking - but i have yet to feel anything.

so far, pregnancy has been a lot easier than i thought it would be. the whole first trimester, i wasn't nauseous at all. i got sick at work twice, but both times i felt fine until about 1 minute beforehand, and then felt fine later. the second trimester has been pretty devoid of symptoms as well. the only noticeable change (besides belly size) is that i get extremely dizzy when i get up. and i also hear my own heartbeat ringing in my ears in the morning and at night. aaron might also mention that am slightly more hormonal. but only slightly, right?

i think keeping up with my exercise has been hugely beneficial. i've moved my running routine indoors due to the colder temperatures. but have been running on the treadmill for 5 minutes, and then walking for 2 minutes. it does a good job of getting my heart rate up, but not too high for too long (i can still hold a conversation with someone, not that i do).

hockey

ice skating polar bear mascot

last night we went to our first alaska aces game. the company I work for sponsor the aces so we frequently get tickets. let me tell you, these people love their hockey. this shouldn't have surprised me but it did. i'm glad we went. it was fun probably because it was a new experience, which doesn't happen as often when you are 32 as it did when you are 20. also because aaron accidentally stole a burrito.

right after a fight, which happened a lot

the bump

so a few of you have asked. here are some bump photos.

we decided to take them outside for better lighting and a more interesting area. this will later prove to be comical as i pose outside in 0 degree weather in a dress. stay tuned.
